How do the SNP plan to support Scottish dairy farmers in low price crisis?

The Scottish Government are taking a range of measures to help secure the dairy sector’s future. In March 2015 the Scottish Government launched the Dairy Action Plan with 25 actions under a number of different themes. The Scottish Government has called on buyers to be more transparent about the prices they are paying dairy farmers, as well as calling for effective action at a European level to help dairy farmers. We believe that a responsibility lies with buyers to consider the fairest deal for farmers and not simply their own profits when contracting.

At Westminster, SNP MPs will press for a review of the Voluntary Code of Practice for the dairy sector and for contract provisions and arrangements to better meet the interests and needs of milk producers.
