What is the SNP position on the concessionary bus pass?
In government, the SNP has protected the Concessionary Travel Scheme for older and disabled people and extended the scheme to injured veterans. There are now 1.3 million people in Scotland who benefit from free bus travel through the scheme.
Following a consultation, the Scottish Government has confirmed that there will be no change to the proposed age of eligibility – the free bus pass will remain available to everyone in Scotland aged over 60.
The scheme will now be extended to companions of eligible disabled children aged under five – a change that could benefit over 3000 families.
We will also continue to explore options to provide free bus travel for Modern Apprentices.
