Christina McKelvie

Hamilton Larkhall & Stonehouse

Christina McKelvie was elected as an MSP in 2007 and returned as Constituency MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse in 2011.

Her career has embraced nursing, social work and trade union activity. Her generous and outgoing personality and her commitment to values of compassion, care and understanding allowed her to be a real force for good in helping to develop independence skills for people with learning disabilities and mental health issues.

As an MSP, she is renowned as a committed and effective speaker and doer, especially on big issues around women’s rights, domestic violence, poverty, deprivation, inequality and the right to fair pay. She is Convener of the Parliament’s European and External Relations Committee.

She is standing again in the Scottish Government elections next May.
