Deidre is MP for Edinburgh North and Leith.
She is a front-bench MP in the SNP group with responsibility for Devolved Government, Northern Ireland and Fair Work and Employment. She sits on the Scottish Affairs Committee and is on the British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly and a number of cross-party groups.

Before winning her seat in the 2015 election, Deidre was a Councillor for the Leith Walk ward on Edinburgh Council and Depute Lord Provost of Edinburgh. She was born in Western Australia, grew up in Perth and studied for her BA in English from John Curtin University before studying acting at the WA Academy of Performing Arts. She lives in Edinburgh with Dougie and her two daughters.
