Patrick Grady

Glasgow North

Patrick joined the SNP in 1997, aged 17. Originally from Inverness, he has made Glasgow his home since moving there as a student, with spells living and working in London and Malawi.

He has a strong personal and professional interest in international development issues, and has worked in a range of policy and campaigning positions in the charity and public sector.

He has held a number of SNP responsibilities and was National Secretary of the Party between 2012 and 2016. He was first elected as MP for Glasgow North in the 2015 General Election and was re-elected in 2017. He was also the SNP Candidate for Glasgow North in the 2010 General Election.

Following the 2015 election, Patrick was appointed as SNP Westminster Spokesperson on International Development, part of the Foreign Affairs team led by Alex Salmond. He also became a member of the House of Commons Procedure Committee.

With his re-election in 2017, Patrick was appointed Chief Whip for the SNP Westminster group and as a Governor of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy. While Patrick greatly enjoyed his previous positions on the House of Commons Procedure Committee and, particularly as, SNP International Development spokesperson, he is excited about taking on this new responsibility.
